Trees and Plants of the Bible By Constance C. James B. D. Pharm.

The Bible mentions many different types of plants, trees, and agricultural crops, especially in the Old Testament and as symbols in key New Testament parables.  This publication is designed to aid in a greater understanding of the Bible through the study of its plants.  Information is organized in an alphabetical table format that specifies those plants listed in the King James Bible.  Plants are significant in that every book of the Old Testament references plant material.  Plants for food, medicine, dyes, part of religious rituals were a critical part of the life of the Israelites.  The Israelites were intimately familiar with the plants around them for their own survival.  Because of this, they are often used as examples or key parts of parables about God cares for us and how we are to act.
